Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is a disorder highlighted by the occurrence of being exposed directly or indirectly to a traumatic event resulting in a person reexperiencing the event. A person may experience intrusive recollections, distressing dreams, acting or feeling as if the event were recurring, physical recollections and persistent problems with sleep, moods and concentration. They may even have problems with being startled easily or hyperawareness of their surroundings and the circumstances they are exposed to. People most often affected are victims of abuse, rape, and veterans of war.
